Based in Vardags’ Manchester office, where she has worked since 2016, Nikki Hale supports a range of HNW clients who often have assets of up to £20 million, she told Spear’s. Around 80 per cent of her client work concerns financial matters, although her practice does include some children work.

Over the past few years, prenups have risen in popularity, she said. While previously there tended to be ‘the odd few here and there’, which were constructed predominantly for international HNWs, Hale has seen many more agreements drafted by those based in the UK. Given that most HNWs have already undertaken legal advice when drafting these agreements, Hale noted that she has dealt ‘with fewer challenges as to duress or undue hardship, or [prenups] not being entered into properly’. 

‘It’s about where circumstances have changed,’ Hale added. ‘It’s an element of family law that’s a bit grey.’
