Spear’s Review

Situated just 15 minutes from the centre of Luxembourg City, St George’s International School is an independent day school for pupils aged 3 to 18. It has a diverse community of around 850 students representing more than 70 nationalities.

Learning extends well beyond the classroom, with a number of co-curricular activities on offer. The new Elsy Jacobs gymnasium has a double-sized sports hall, and the sports programme includes basketball, cricket, dance and more. Pupils are able to participate in STEAM activities or art, design and performance, or complete a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as part of their studies.

The school follows the UK curriculum and consistently performs well in IGCSE and A-Level results. Around 95 per cent of graduates typically progress to university, with recent leavers securing places at institutions including Duke University, University College London and Durham University.

Head teacher

Zeba Clarke was appointed principal of St George’s in 2024. She worked as an economic journalist before training as a teacher at Sheffield University. She has taught in the UK state and independent sectors as well as international schools in China, Brazil and Belgium. After studying for a master’s in education at the University of London, she taught at a number of leading international schools, including St Paul’s School in São Paulo and King Edward’s Witley.

University and college destinations

According to the school, 92 per cent of students in 2025 continued on to university, with nearly 20 per cent going to Russell Group universities in the UK.

Admissions

According to the school, all applicants should begin by arranging a visit and submitting an application form and school reports. Primary school applicants are invited for a class visit, while secondary school applicants attend a two-day visit, which includes informal assessments and an interview.
