AS ADVISERS TO the ambitious, EY Private professionals possess the experience and passion to support private businesses and their owners in unlocking the full potential of their ambitions.

EY is a global leader in assurance, consulting, strategy and transactions, and tax services. Our purpose is to build a better working world for our clients, people and communities.

EY’s experience with entrepreneurial businesses extends to both emerging and developed economies around the world and enables us to discover tomorrow’s global leaders today. Each owner, CEO or entrepreneur leading a private or family business plays a key role in creating long-term value and a world that works better — through the jobs they create, and through their ingenuity, can-do approach and focus on leaving a positive legacy. By supporting these leaders while they build their businesses and achieve their ambitions, together EY teams can build a better working world.

The UK Private team offers distinct insights born from the long EY history of working with business owners and entrepreneurs. The team supports the full spectrum of private enterprises, including private capital managers and investors and the portfolio businesses they fund, business owners, family businesses, family offices and entrepreneurs.

As part of the network of Private teams established in over 50 countries, the UK team is unique in its agility and the global coverage it provides. This interconnected approach has been particularly important in the last 12 months as clients adapt to new challenges and new opportunities for growth.

Operating ‘beyond tax’, the team is also supported by the firm’s focus on knowledge sharing and professional development. Key initiatives include a focus on technology transformation, family business advisory, and helping clients prepare for the looming changes of Financial Reporting Council (FRC) and making tax digital (MDR). We also offer our private businesses a fully managed finance operations service called EY Absolute, to enable them to optimise their finance operations and in turn grow their business, implement continuous improvement and deliver value while controlling costs.

Client successes include the restructuring and relocation of family offices to the UK, the demerger of two leading family businesses, and operational transformation of a multi-generational multijurisdictional business.

Our Forensic & Integrity services practice provide a full suite of services to our private clients around reputation management. The team provides forensic accounting and investigation support to clients who are embroiled in disputes with family or business partners; we provide background screening and strategic insight into potential business partners and we work with our clients to ensure the appropriate compliance processes are in place to mitigate the risk of misconduct and other reputational risks within their business or investment portfolios.
