BARGATE MURRAY is a top international luxury asset law firm, recognised for its expertise in superyacht transactional and advisory matters, aviation (private jets), dispute resolution (litigation, arbitration and mediation) and high-end residential property, as well as other luxury assets such as fine art. The Firm prides itself on its tailored approach to meet the needs of its individual clients and their advisers, which is highly valued.
The firm gives practical, commercial advice and is approachable and easy to deal with. Sources of the Chambers HNW Guide 2019 comment on the ‘huge amount of litigation experience’ that Quentin Bargate possesses, adding that he is ‘very well-connected’ and ‘knows his stuff ’. A satisfied client appreciates that ‘he does the work from the beginning to the end, providing a full and complete service’. The source adds, ‘his advice is always helpful and he is very practical.’
Market insiders note the Firm has a ‘very good reputation’ and praise the team for being ‘very forward-thinking.’
In April 2019, the firm converted to an Alternative Business Structure (ABS), which enables Bargate Murray to undertake additional work and services not traditionally undertaken by lawyers. In May 2019, the firm celebrated its 15th anniversary and hosted a party at the Monaco Yacht Show in September, to celebrate Bargate Murray’s achievements over the years.
Bargate Murray has an established, strong cross-departmental group which meets to share knowledge and deepen its expertise. The firm prides itself on its tailored approach to meet the needs of its individual clients. Bargate Murray provides a comprehensive range of services within its superyacht practice, with its lawyers covering a range of legal issues including yacht construction, sale and purchase, yacht regulation, yacht finance and taxation. Many of these transactions are highly complicated and involve several jurisdictions.
As a result of their technical expertise and reputation, the firm has acted on numerous major luxury asset transactions, often with values exceeding €200 million. Client confidentiality prohibits the firm from releasing details of these transactions. The firm was, however, authorised to issue a press release in relation to the legal work it carried out in connection with the construction and delivery of the award-winning 95m superyacht Palladium.
