Martin Green

Martin Green’s recent highlights include setting a world record for whisky at auction when a bottle of Macallan 1926-60 year old Valerio Adami sold for HK$8,636,250 (£814,081) at Bonhams Hong Kong. ‘These bottles are, of course, exceptionally rare,’saysGreen,‘but other whiskies from Macallan, as well as Dalmore, Glenfiddich and Springbank continue to have wide appeal and perform consistently well.’ The auction house holds several sales a year in Edinburgh and Hong Kong, with single malts for collecting and drinking, from the very rare to more affordable. While Scotch tends to dominate, Japanese whisky, particularly from defunct distilleries, now commands exceptionally high prices.
