Viola Raikhel-Bolot founded 1858 Art Advisory in 2004 with Harvey Mendelson, after noticing a demand for impartial advice around art market transactions. The firm has expanded to encompass bespoke services for every stage of the collection life cycle, advising clients on curating, collection management, purchases and art finance. Based in London, with offices in New York, Sydney, Düsseldorf and Paris, 1858 helps clients make informed decisions based on rigorous due diligence and market intelligence. ‘We have the skills to help our clients to make informed decisions,’ Raikhel-Bolot says. The firm does not represent artists, and has no ties to dealers or galleries.
