Anne-Françoise Gavanon is the director of Frederick Mulder Ltd, one of London’s most prominent print dealers and the world’s top Picasso print specialists.

It provides an entry point into the most blue-chip of modern masters. ‘The print medium is a great point of entry, especially in relation to Picasso,’ says Gavanon.

‘One of the major Picasso prints is easily between £2 million and £2.5 million. If you want a beautiful painting from Picasso, you have to put down a lot more.’ But print requires connoisseurship; making the right purchase is ‘deceptively difficult,’ says Gavanon. '‘Print’ might mean reproduction, but in original printmaking the artist works directly on the plates, using far more creativity and originality.'
