RIBA gold medal winner Sir David Chipperfield’s practice is active across four continents, and more than half of the employees at the London office are EU nationals – which has been integral to his success.‘The transfer of knowledge, of ideas – a cross-fertilisation of cultures and of thinking – is really important in the creative sector,’ avers the firm. Since establishing his practice in 1985, Chipperfield has designed buildings such as the Nobel Centre in Stockholm and the Kunsthaus Zürich in Switzerland, and Valentino stores across the world. Renowned for his public buildings, he also designs homes for private clients. His buildings are stark and striking, with a trademark serenity.
