DescriptionMartin Walker, director of the Center for Evidence-Based Management, made headlines in 2018 after telling politicians at a Treasury select committee that blockchain technology has been turned into a ‘fad’ and cryptocurrencies have ‘very little obvious benefit to society’. With cryptocurrencies still unregulated and the working application of the technology unproven, the Spear’s 500 list needed a genuine crypto cynic and, in Walker, we have one. He poured cold water on the government’s movement towards crypto, arguing that the hype has been driven by people who ‘have made a great deal of money… but at someone else’s expense as opposed to genuinely creating wealth’.
