Martin Kaufman Philanthropy
Family Fortunes & Philanthropy
London, United Kingdom
Investments and Asset Management
DescriptionWhile some philanthropy advisers let their clients give to whichever clients they want, Kaufman specialises in connecting charities within the educational and cultural sectors to like-minded philanthropists.
His effort – as chair of the Institute of Fundraising — is to try and bridge a gap which has hurt the arts as government grants have dwindled as well as giving. His efforts — which started with the Cultural Sector Network last year — is aimed at more professional fundraising by charities – including greater transparency and a ‘far higher level of engagement between philanthropists and the causes they support’.
In his other career as principal of Martin Kaufman Philanthropy, he’s worked as a consultant in gift fundraising as well as a trainer and coach with over 100 organisations and thousands of donors trying to find the ‘lightbulb’ moment when both sides ‘wake up to new possibilities’.
