Tom Road has been at Barclays Private Bank since 2010, where he provides investment management services including execution/brokerage, advisory, discretionary and credit across a range of asset classes). He works with key clients and family offices from the CIS region, with a focus on Russia.

Before Barclays, Road spent nearly seven years at Linklaters, the multinational, 'magic circle' law firm headquartered in London. He was a managing associate for much of this time, specialising in cross-border and complex corporate finance and private M&A for a diverse range of real estate clients, including REITs, PE/property funds, SWFs, pension funds and FTSE 100 property companies.

Tom has been at Barclays since 2010 and is a private banker covering UHNW and Family Office clients from the CIS Region and Europe. Prior to Barclays, Tom was a senior corporate and real estate lawyer at Linklaters.

Having initially landed on the Russian desk at Barclays, Tom focused on developing a high calibre client base from the region, overcoming the language barrier and no natural network.

Tom embraces the universal banking model that Barclays operates under, developing partnerships across the bank in order to provide a truly holistic service to his clients. Given the institutional focus of Tom's client base, he works closely with the Corporate and Investment bank, and has successfully introduced significant mandates to them through the relationship he has with business owners. Covering clients with traditional commodity-focused businesses has also presented an opportunity to help these businesses shape their ESG agenda.

Whilst the core of Tom's business is traditional investment management, focusing on preserving and growing capital for current and future generations, access to quality private market deals is increasingly important for Tom and his clients. It is often this, alongside ancillary services like philanthropy and wealth advisory, that can define a relationship.

Tom also takes an interest in businesses that might shape the future through innovation. He leverages his own and the Barclays network to learn about opportunities that could have a material impact on the world in the future. These are not only potential investment opportunities for his clients, but an insight into how the world might one day look and function.

Away from work Tom is a father of two, enjoys keeping fit, and will give most sports a go when time allows!
