Joanna Greenslade, Barwood Capital’s founder and director of strategy and funding, was MD from 2015-19, and was responsible for recruiting both Hugh Elrington (now MD) and Guy Brogden (chairman). She was Barwood’s group finance director from 2006, joining from Thomson Reuters, where she set up and ran an in-house corporate finance team and worked as a global divisional finance director, having trained as an accountant.

The Northampton-based firm’s investors are primarily ‘HNWs who have heard of us on their local network,’ Greenslade says. ‘A growing number of entrepreneurs look at our funds as a lower-risk version of private equity, as do a range of independent-minded and sophisticated investors who don’t rely on investment managers to make their decisions.’
