Sarah Anticoni specialises in advising on or mediating financial claims upon divorce, along with future arrangements for children. Not every case can be settled or mediated, and Anticoni actively litigates where it is appropriate. But a particular success this year saw her mediating a couple before court proceedings began, enabling the couple to focus their time and money on supporting their children in their education during Covid.
Professional colleagues know her as straight-talking, and clients have her listening ear. With the court system overloaded, she has embraced technology shifting her buoyant mediation practice online. Anticoni says ‘Much of my work has always had an overseas element, so we still have to juggle time zones for Zoom meetings.’ She still prefers working IRL, where she is as comfortable being the trusted adviser as she is the neutral mediator. Her decades of experience are put to good use with HNW and UHNW clients and their family offices, addressing the dissolution of religious as well as civil marriages. Her IAFL contacts provide referrals from around the globe.
‘Divorce is a tunnel clients may have to go through, but it should not define them,’ she says. ‘My role is to guide them through, onto whatever it is they want to be doing with their lives. Working closely with people at the most stressful moment of their lives requires sensitivity and sensible talking. My experience allows me to be calm and clear when clients are seeing chaos. I am rather efficient and tenacious. Great for clients, but quite hard if you are working in my team.’
