For Simon Pigott there’s no such thing as a ‘good’ divorce – only ‘slightly less unpleasant’ ones. ‘No one goes through the process with any sense of pleasure,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘As solicitors, our role is to understand that, and to recognise that, for a lot of clients, divorce is all-consuming, and something that worries them hugely.’ It’s the sort of plain-speaking wisdom that has differentiated Pigott’s firm from much of the competition. Co-founded by Pigott in 1998, it specialises solely in family law, and continues to draw in big-money cases.
Despite doubling in size over two decades, the firm has stayed true to its founding principles of being a boutique practice, solely focused on family law – with its finely tuned in-house expertise reflecting this specialism.
Adviser ProfileSimon Pigott is a founding partner of boutique Family Law firm, Levison Meltzer Pigott LLP, which was established in 1998. A member of the International Academy of Family Lawyers, Simon was also one of the first family law mediators trained by the Family Mediators Association. He remains an accredited and practising family mediator and is a trained Collaborative lawyer. He was one of 12 members of the 'small but hugely experienced' working group appointed by the Family Justice Council to promote an interdisciplinary approach to family justice.
