Bompas & Parr’s 2018 exhibition at the British Museum of Food was a real treat. SCOOP: A Wonderful Ice Cream World was the innovative firm’s real highlight of the past few years, showcasing 14,000 ice cream-based objects. Founders Sam Bompas and Harry Parr first came to prominence through their expertise in jellymaking, but are also famed for masterminding London’s 2013 multi-sensory New Year’s Eve firework spectacle. Spectators could not only see the fireworks, but taste peach snow, edible banana confetti and Seville orange bubbles. It is their brand of ‘swashbuckling fearlessness combined with ruthless planning’ that really sets them apart.
