When Richard Hannon Jr took over the family training business from his father, legendary trainer Richard Hannon Sr, in 2014, he got off to a dream start, with key triumphs at Royal Ascot. He further brought in top-end clients such as Sheikh Hamdan, Andrew Tinkler, Sir Robert Ogden and Sir Alex Ferguson.

Now at the helm of Wiltshire-based Herridge and Everleigh Stables, he runs a team of around 100 – including his father, who stayed on as assistant. One of Britain’s best-equipped training establishments, it has starting stalls, horse walkers, safe and restricted turnout pens, digital weighbridges and an indoor school.
