Spear’s Review
The son of a farmer and small-scale horse trainer from County Wexford in Ireland, Aidan O’Brien grew up with racing in his blood.
He became Ireland’s youngest ever champion trainer in 1996, a title he has held continuously since 1998. After a successful career as an amateur jockey he focused on flat training, quickly becoming one of Europe’s very best.
O’Brien became private trainer for John Magnier’s Coolmore Stud in 1996, and he has since trained at Ballydoyle in Ireland, winning all of the major races in Europe many times over, as well as those in Australia, Hong Kong and the UAE.
When viewed in its entirety, his record over the last 20 years has been consistently brilliant.
