Dr Asif Chatoo founded The London Lingual Orthodontic Clinic 20 years ago, pioneering lingual orthodontics in the UK.

Lingual braces – braces fitted on the inner surfaces of the teeth – attract clients who prefer a less conspicuous solution to straightening teeth. ‘The main advantage is that it’s discreet,’ Chatoo tells Spear’s. ‘[We] provide an opportunity for the patient to really enhance their own smile using their own teeth.’ Unlike other smile-enhancing options such as veneers or front braces, there is no ‘big reveal’, Chatoo explains. ‘As the teeth are being straightened, obviously the patient can see the benefits of it.’

Chatoo takes a patient-centric approach, offering a wide variety of appointment times to accommodate individuals who have busy schedules or who are flying in for treatment. He also embraces technology: the clinic’s digital dentistry tools allow Chatoo to create a treatment plan and monitor the movement of patients’ teeth, while patients themselves can see progress in real-time.
