Nicolas Roux founded Rive Gauche, his London-based interior design, architecture and project management practice, in 2015.

Since then, the studio has gone on to deliver stunning projects all over the world. Roux has left his signature on apartments in Grosvenor Square, family homes in Saudi Arabia, Dubai villas and sprawling Indian and French private residences. Even the Four Seasons Residences in Bahrain has had a facelift by Roux. The studio has no house style, making sure that each design is sympathetic to its surroundings and environment. ‘We really spend time with [clients] to understand their style, and to make sure that we have gone through all of the options and that the house will function,’ Roux tells Spear’s.

By adapting his style to fit clients’ needs, Roux and Rive Gauche have gained a loyal client base consisting of eminent families, entrepreneurs and captains of industry.

Founder Nicolas Roux spent his childhood in the French countryside. Spending countless days in the family workshop alongside his father, a master carpenter and joiner, Nicolas soon established an enduring passion for authentic craftsmanship.

Developing a deep-rooted understanding of materials and an exquisite eye for detail, Nicolas preserved the values nurtured from his childhood. Combining refined artistry with technical precision, the influence from Nicolas’ artisanal roots is unmistakable.

He brings over 15 years’ international experience with globally renowned studios, including Candy & Candy and Terence Conran, delivering world-class projects ranging from hotel developments to luxury private residences, including One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, London. Nicolas also developed a deep knowledge of building during several years at Bouygues Construction, a top 10 global construction company.

Fast forward to 2025 and Nicolas has developed a multi-award-winning, world-class team of designers, architects, technical specialists and project managers who cover the end-to-end range of skills needed to deliver exceptional design and build projects.

Now operating for over 10 years, Rive Gauche has a project gross development value of over £800 million. The projects span over 15 different countries, and in the last two years the team have won four awards, including London Interior Design Scheme of the Year from Design Et Al in 2024.
